Tectonic Manifest

Jerusalem is a city comprised of segregated neighborhoods in which the residents of each are ignorant of the other. As a response to this segregation, this manifest acts as a series of walled paths isolating the person walking through the site from the outside context, as a metaphor of the lives of residents of Jerusalem. But instead of just creating complete isolation, it further challenges the passerby by opening up specific areas to views of the surroundings, indicating and reminding them of the world outside their individual territory. The walls curve and beng througout the site, no only affecting those walking through the paths, but any individual on the site by breaking up the landscape and creating isolated spaces.
The walls are made of perforated metal sheathing supported by studs. In some areas the walls are filled to block all views, while in others there is partial or full visibility out. The metal is a material unusual to Jerusalem, attracting attention from outside the site, as well as meant to feel unnatural and disruptive to the landscape, as segregation should be to human nature.
